FOREWORD by BRIAN REDMAN, Porsche driver, twice winner of the Spa 1000 Kilometres, as well as winner of the Targa Florio in 1970 and the Sebring 12 Hours in 1978

Porsche 911: a legendary sports car, judged by many to be the greatest of the twentieth century. From its launch back in 1963, the 911 has been the object of continuous evolution and transformation; a car capable of reinventing itself while maintaining its unmistakeable characteristics of advanced technology, high performance, robustness, elegance and versatility, all qualities typical of Porsche products. In the racing field, there is no other car that has won so much, for so long and in the most diverse categories and disciplines.
With respect to the edition published in 2013, this latest version of the book again covers the air-cooled 911s, through to the 993 from the late Nineties and has been enriched with new contents and previously unseen photographic material. There are several interesting anecdotes recounted in the first person by the author.
This third edition, entirely revised and corrected, traces the evolution of the 911 from 1963 to 1998, when the last air-cooled models of the 993 series were produced. The guide to the identification of the different series, the analysis of the 911 racing cars, all models that the author - a profound connoisseur of the Stuttgart brand and 911 enthusiast - has had the opportunity to test on the road and on the track, are some of the strengths of this new edition.
The appendix also contains the updated and complete list of chassis numbers of the various 911 series produced over the years, an indispensable tool for anyone who owns one of these cars. Last but not least, this edition also makes use of the exciting introduction by Brian Redman, a great protagonist with Porsches in the golden age of endurance racing with his successes at the 1000 Kilometers of Spa in 1969 and 1970 with the 908 and the 917K , at the 1970 Targa Florio again with the 908, at the 1978 12 Hours of Sebring and at the 1981 24 Hours of Daytona with the 935.
